Mahjong 102 is designed for players who have completed Mahjong 101 or have a basic understanding of the game but want more confidence choosing hands, reading the NMJL card and navigating the Charleston.

How do I know if this is the right class for me?
Mahjong 102 is perfect for players who have completed Mahjong 101 or already understand the basics but want to improve their skills and confidence.
If you find yourself struggling to choose a hand, understand the NMJL card or decide which tiles to pass during the Charleston, this class is for you!
What should I bring?
Just yourself!
We provide the venue, tables and all Mahjong materials, including tiles, racks, mats and 2026 NMJL cards. Lite bites and beverages are also provided.
Do I need to register in advance?
Yes. Registration is required, as seating is limited to ensure personalized instruction and plenty of opportunities to practice.
What will I learn?
Mahjong 102 takes a deeper dive into the NMJL card, the Charleston and beginner strategy to help you become a more confident player.

By the end of class, you'll have a better understanding of the card and Charleston, along with more confidence making decisions during Open Play.
Do I need to complete Mahjong 101 first?
We recommend completing Mahjong 101 or having a basic understanding of Mahjong before attending.
You should already be familiar with the tiles, basic gameplay and the purpose of the Charleston. This class focuses on building upon those fundamentals rather than teaching the game from the beginning.

We encourage you to join our weekly Open Plays at The Mahj Studio to continue practicing, building confidence and meeting other players.
As you become more comfortable, you can also explore additional strategy lessons to keep improving your game.
What is the Refund Policy?
Due to limited seating, no refunds will be issued.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Guests must cancel at least 4 hours prior to the scheduled start time to avoid a $10 late cancellation or no-show fee. This allows us to adjust scheduling and offer availability to others.
